As part of my school curriculum, I was required to complete a summer internship based on the idea that much of the learning in the construction industry comes from hands-on experience. This proved to be completely true during my internship at Verdex Construction, where I gained invaluable, real-world exposure to the industry.

During my internship, I worked closely with the Sovana project team, learning the day-to-day responsibilities involved in managing a construction project. My experience included reviewing submittals, writing and tracking RFIs, capturing progress photos, and shadowing team members to better understand their roles on the project.

What made my experience truly meaningful was the level of trust and responsibility that the team placed on me. Not only did I learn a lot about construction, but I was encouraged to actively contribute to the success of the project. The skills, knowledge, and confidence I gained during my internship directly prepared me for my initial role at Verdex Construction as a Project Engineer, and later for my continued growth into an Assistant Project Manager.

Overall, I had a great experience interning at Verdex Construction. It reinforced my passion for the construction industry and also laid a strong foundation for the start of my career.
