For the third consecutive year, West Palm Beach-based Verdex Construction has been named a recipient of the prestigious Eagle Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Florida East Coast Chapter at their 2019 Excellence in Construction Awards. The Eagle Award, given to best-in-class projects, was presented to Verdex for Central Gardens Grand apartments in Palm Beach Gardens in the highly-competitive category of Best Market Rate Rental project ($20 – $50 million). The award from the local chapter now allows the project to be considered for a national ABC award.

Completed in December 2018, Central Gardens Grand consists of 124 luxury apartments in two four-story buildings at 3333 Central Boulevard. The project totaled 276,000 sq. ft. with amenities including a 13,000 sq. ft. clubhouse with a resort-style pool, 24-hour fitness center, putting green, business center and card rooms. Verdex Construction operated as general contractor for developer Schottenstein Real Estate Group.

Verdex Construction announces it has been selected to build The Sovana at Stuart, a 55+ resort-style rental community in Stuart, Florida. Developed by United Group of Companies, The Sovana at Stuart consists of 182 one- and two-bedroom apartments in three- and four-story buildings, plus a stand-alone, 15,000 sq. ft. clubhouse at 1950 Northwest Federal Highway.

Clubhouse amenities include a resort-style pool, living room with fireplace, commercial kitchen, game room, arts and crafts room, media center, fitness center and yoga studio, and on-site private salon and spa. The clubhouse also includes a pickleball court, bocce ball court and dog park, with the whole project surrounded by a nature preserve with walking trails.

“This community will help address this need for additional 55+ active living housing in Florida, and for Verdex, it marks our first project in this sector,” said Verdex Construction President Rex Kirby. “It’s also our first project for developer The United Group and we look forward to showing another client how we live up to our brand promise of “Building Something Better.”

Total construction cost for The Sovana at Stuart is estimated at $28 million, and completion is expected in late 2020.

The project is being built for Atlanta-based developer Atlantic Residential on a 2.48 acre site off Australian Avenue, close to the I-95, Palm Beach International Airport, Tri-Rail and Brightline/Virgin Trains.

Designed by MSA Architects, Centrepark Apartments consists of a seven-story building with 246 one, two and three bedroom apartments and a 402 space parking garage. Residents will also enjoy a seventh-floor game room, a pool, a first-floor club room with tech and fitness centers, and outdoor gardens. Total development size for the project is 406,572 square feet. Completion is expected in Summer/Fall 2020.

West Palm Beach-based Verdex Construction announces a May 22 groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction for The Pointe on Westshore, a luxury multi-family apartment community in Tampa, being developed by Westshore Pointe LLC, a venture between Jupiter, Florida-based Index Investment Group along with minority local partner Richard Coley. This marks Verdex’s first project beyond Florida’s east coast.

The Pointe on Westshore, located at 4950 West Prescott Street, will consist of six, five-story buildings with 444 luxury apartments including 28 carriage homes, along with a two-story, 11,000-sq. ft. clubhouse featuring two pools and a fitness center. Total development cost is estimated at just over $100 million.

West Palm Beach-based Verdex Construction has started construction of Water Tower Commons, a master-planned residential development in Lantana, Florida. The project consists of 14 buildings with 360 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, plus a clubhouse with yoga studio, spa, and exercise room. Interior space totals 430,000 sq. ft. including the clubhouse, and the site is 16.11 acres. Other amenities include a pool, park, and outdoor barbeque area.

The development is located on the former site of the A.G. Holley State Hospital, north of Lantana Road just east of I-95. Miami-based Related Group is the developer, and MSA Architects of Miami designed the project.

The Eagle Award, given to best-in-class projects, was presented to Verdex for their high-quality craftsmanship of interiors and finishes their team built for the 1000 North restaurant/club project in Jupiter. The award from the local chapter now allows the project to be considered for a national ABC award.

1000 North is a new-build, 9,860 sq. ft. restaurant/club with a high-grade commercial kitchen, expansive wood bar, wine room, cigar room, outdoor gazebo bar and first-floor restaurant in addition to a second-floor, members-only lounge. The project included 10 different species of wood with curved beams and slats, four different types of stone, mirrored stainless steel columns and soffits and three types of leather-wrapped panels. The mix of procuring and meticulously installing such high-end finishes required extensive coordination and problem-solving among the Verdex team and project stakeholders. The project was completed on-time and on-budget for 1000 North LLC investor group.

“This was truly a remarkable project requiring the highest level of craftsmanship and experience for which Verdex excels,” said Rex Kirby, President of Verdex Construction. “It’s a significant example of what we mean when we say we’re ‘Building Something Better’.”

1000 North, located on the Loxahatchee River just north of Burt Reynolds Park on U.S. 1, opened in February 2018 after eight and a half months of construction. As General Contractor, Verdex held frequent on-site meetings with designers, engineers and the ownership team to assure timely delivery and quality of materials and craftsmanship on all aspects of the project.

VERDEX BREAKS GROUND ON RELATED’S NEW TOWN SOUTHERN APARTMENTS

A new neighborhood in Royal Palm Beach now is under construction. The 392-unit Town Southern Apartment complex is being built by The Related Group, a Miami-based developer. The company paid $12.5 million for the site in 2016.

Town Southern sits on 29 acres south of Southern Boulevard and west of State Road 7. When completed, it will include 15-three story apartment buildings, a pool, tennis courts, clubhouse and more, according to a news release.

The apartments will have attached garages and models will include one, two or three bedrooms, according to a Related website promoting Town Southern.

“The rental market in South Florida is very active with Palm Beach County as a hot spot for multifamily development,\” said Rex Kirby, president of Verdex Construction, which is building the complex for Related.

This marks Related Group’s first project with West Palm Beach-based Verdex, according to a news release. Verdex also is building 1000 North, a Jupiter restaurant co-owned by NBA superstar Michael Jordan, and the new Canopy Hotel in downtown West Palm Beach.
